I like to compare my music to the sea.
I imagine an impenetrable, wise substance
that changes shape depending on the mood.
This is my music.
Agitated and gentle.
Thrilling and calm.
Angry and full of warmth.
It is born deep from the bottom
of my interior, my being,
my heart.
It is intuitive, pure, true.
Hi,
my name is Piotr Zalewski

I’m a composer, pianist, producer and arranger from Warsaw, Poland. My music begins with an image that has followed me since childhood: the sea. I hear it as a wise, shifting substance — calm one moment, wild the next — and my compositions grow from that intuition. They are spontaneous, emotional, layered, shaped by neoromantic, impressionist and expressionist colours.

I create solo and collaborate with inspiring musicians, among others: Lubomyr Melnyk, Arad Emamgholi, Kaja Mianowana. I move between acoustic, electronic and hybrid sound worlds. My work includes piano music, chamber and orchestral pieces, choral works, reworks, film scores and commercial soundtracks.

My debut album IMAGO (2019) told a story of transformation through the life cycle of a butterfly. A year later, during my time as music director on a German cruise ship, I wrote bezdeń, a sea-themed piano trilogy inspired by the endless ocean I watched daily from the deck. I continued to develop my musical language in later projects such as rebirth and Live from S2, recorded at the renowned Lutosławski Studio of Polish Radio.

Among my works for larger ensembles are Four Seasons for chamber orchestra, percussion and choir, and the choral piece Domine non sum dignus, which also marked my conducting debut. My composition Nie mów! to a poem by Adam Asnyk received 3rd Prize in the national Tadeusz Ochlewski Composition Competition (PWM).

I enjoy reimagining existing music. My reworks have been awarded in competitions by 2track.pro, Pekao S.A. and Kayax Records (Piano Day 2023). I reached the second stage of the Film Music Festival in Krakow’s international competition.

I compose for commercials, exhibitions and media as well, collaborating with brands such as Winiary, RMF Classic, Egurrola Dance Studio, Funtronic and Ney Gallery.

Alongside composing, I’ve been teaching piano, composition, arrangement and music theory since 2011.
Music began for me when I was seven years old, playing Christmas carols by ear on my grandparents’ upright piano — and I’ve been following that path ever since.

I am currently working on my second album, Wind Tales.
When I’m not composing, I read and write — searching for the same inner space I find in music, and in the sea.
