When I am looking for a common denominator for all my compositions, INTUITION comes first. Each of my musical ideas starts with intuition. Intuition is the essence of creativity. I create by improvising. I create by repeating. I subconsciously choose sounds that combine into a theme, an idea, or a cell. I am supported by the mind only when all this chaos requires dressing in a meaningful form.

A repetitive, multidimensional structure accessible to the world, to the limited human perception.

The SEA comes second. I grew up at the seaside. I love water. I prefer melodic, unfolded chords. I like how metrically different layers interlock with each other to form a complex, uniform structure. I appreciate simplicity, but one that has complexity. I am hypnotized

by repetition that goes hand in hand with change. I listen carefully to the noise that reveals its multidimensionality. I like to imitate electronic and synthesizer sounds on the piano.

My name is Piotr Zalewski.

I am a composer, a pianist and a music producer from Warsaw.

At the beginning of September 2019, I released my first solo piano album "IMAGO". The album is conceptual:

The individual pieces correspond to the stages in the butterfly life cycle; from birth of a caterpillar, through a pupa, to a mature form of an imago. By using an image of butterfly transformation, I want

to indicate the process of human maturation, their experiences, motivation, moments of crisis, and evolution.

The opening track, "Birth", was dedicated to my daughter Maria.

This piano piece was created a few days after Maria's birth. The composition is for her. Maria is my greatest happiness. My love materialized in her.

A fragment of the third composition of the album "Under The Surface" was used in the YONI project created by a choreographer and dancer, Patrycja Nosiadek. Music videos were made for songs "I" and "Life". The music video for "Life" is based on the choreography made by Patrycja Nosiadek. Zuzanna Kupidura performs the choreography.

The album was recorded on a Wagner piano in Izabela Komańska's home studio. This piano has an undefined charm. It may be 50 years old. I don't know its story, but subconsciously I sense its vibrations resonating with me.

The album is supported by Monika Neys photographs.

I trust Monika about the visuals. We know each other. We have similar aesthetic preferences. Monika makes sure that I maintain visual coherence.

The IMAGO album is available in a digital form on all major streaming platforms and in the form of CDs (limited edition) directly from me.

In February 2021, I published a cycle of 3 piano pieces in a digital form entitled "bezdeń". I describe this cycle as a sea trilogy, because it was created during and after my voyage on a ship around the shores of Asia. I was a music director on a German cruise liner. Every day we were on a different Asian coast, so I was able to see many captivating places in a fairly short time. However, I think that what inspired me the most was the view of the vastness of the ocean, which I often looked at from the deck of the ship.

My newest release is the single "rebirth". "Rebirth" is a remix of "Birth" from the "IMAGO" album. The piece is enriched with cello - Omi Konstancja Osmolińska, violin - Victor Pastor Peidro, electronic and percussion layers, and my processed voice. "Rebirth" opens a new chapter in my work. After the solely piano based releases ("IMAGO", "bezdeń") I experience a kind of revival and open myself to new forms of expression.

"Rebirth" is accompanied by a visualization generated by Artificial Intelligence. The originator of the visualization is Xi Li - a technical teacher at META, an entrepreneur, investor, a Blockchain enthusiast.

I also compose for larger instrumental ensembles. Among them are:

"Four Seasons" for string orchestra, percussion and choir performed at the concert hall of the  Fryderyk Chopin University of Music

"Domine non sum dignus" for mixed choir led by myself (conducting debut). The piece was first performed at the Academy of Music in Łódź, it was then presented in various places in Poland and Europe.

"Nie Mów!" to the poem by Adam Asnyk for orchestra and voice. The piece was awarded 3rd place in the Polish National Competition for Composers named by Tadeusz Ochlewski in Cracow, organized by PWM. The jury was then composed of: Krzysztof Penderecki, Paweł Mykietyn, Eugeniusz Knapik, Jerzy Kornowicz, Elżbieta Sikora, Daniel Cichy.

On November 1, 2020, I released the song "Leaving Wonderland". The composition was recorded in Sound and Wave - Recording Studio together with the singer LINA [link here] who invented the melody line and the lyrics for the previously created piano layer. I had been presenting "Leaving Wonderland" solo for some time. It was supposed to be an independent piano piece. One day I thought of a little experiment. I invited LINA for a rehearsal. She breathed new quality into the song with her extraordinary vocal gift and musical intelligence. And this is how this composition was born.

I also make original musical arrangements. In a competition organized by the 2track.pro portal, I created a rework of Daria Zawiałow's song "Nie Dobiję Się Do Ciebie", which was awarded with the first place.

In the competition, organized by Pekao S.A. Bank, I created and presented a rework of the song "Nie Czekaj" by Barbara Wrońska, awarded with the 3rd place.

I created an orchestral arrangement of Anna Jantar's song "Tylko mnie poproś do tańca" performed at the inaugural concert at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music during the Night of Museums.
